De-mystifying Geography

Kevin Filteau is more than just about geography.
When he isn’t working full-time with the City of Regina as a Waste Diversion
Officer where he is responsible for researching, operating, evaluating,
implementing and maintaining waste minimization and solid waste management
programs and projects, he also tutors at Oxford Learning. There, he tutors
elementary and high school students. “Most people think a BA in Geography is
about map reading (GIS – Geographic Information Systems). I studied more than
just topographic maps; I learned about water systems, environmental resource
management and earth system sciences.” Kevin first got excited about
environmental sciences when he took Geography 100. He then met his mentor, Dr.
Kyle Hodder, in the department which helped him along in his educational and
professional career.
